OBJECTIVE: To explore the effects of early rehabilitative guidance on quality of life(QOL) after cardiac valve replacement. METHODS: Choose 96 patients suffering from rheumatic heart disease and after cardiac valve replacement, and randomly divided into two groups. Rehabilitation group (36 cases) and control group (34 cases). Patients in the rehabilitation group were given general treatment and rehabilitative guidance at 24 hours after the operation, while those in control group were only given general treatment and at will exercise by themselves. Two groups were evaluated by questionnaire for QOL on the twentieth day after the operation. RESULTS: The QOL score of the rehabilitation group was significantly higher than that of the control group. Among 10 deliberated indexes, 7 items had significant differences (p < 0.01). CONCLUSION: It shows that postoperative patients are advanced their heart rehabilitation and improved their QOL by early rehabilitative guidance.
