AIM: To explore the effect of the neural network reconstruction instrument combined with rehabilitation training in post-stroke hemiplegic patients. METHODS: Totally 100 patients with post-stroke hemiplegia diagnosed and treated in the Department of Neurology, Dongfeng General Hospital of Xunyang Medical University from July 2001 to July 2004 were selected. The patients were randomly divided into two groups. The experiment group received traditional physics rehabilitation therapy combined with the neural network reconstruction instrument;. the control group received traditional physical rehabilitation therapy. The motor function of limbs and activity of daily living (ADL) in the two groups were observed with Fugl-Meyer assessment (FMA) and Barther index (BI), respectively. RESULTS: After 8-week treatment, the score on FMA was 70.3 +/- 11.6 in experiment group and 48.4 +/- 10.2 in control group, and there was significant difference (t = 5.98, p < 0.01). The score on BI was 74.9 +/- 15.7 in experiment group and 52.2 +/- 16.3 in control group, and there was significant difference (t = 7.17, p < 0.01). CONCLUSION: The neural network reconstruction treatment has an important role in improving motor function of limbs and ADL in shroke patients.
