INTRODUCTION: Algomed algae is the most popular supplement and is used in combination with resistance training to increase lean tissue mass, especially in obese people. The aim of the research was to investigate the effect of 12 weeks of intermittent resistance training with Algomed supplementation on PAI-1 in obese men. MATERIALS AND METHODS: 44 obese men aged between 23 to 32 years old were randomly selected into four groups: intermittent resistance training (11 people), Algomed supplement (11 people), intermittent resistance training plus Algomed supplement (11 people) and control. (11 people) were divided. The training, exercise and supplement groups trained according to the schedule for twelve weeks, including 8 upper body and lower body movements, 3 sets of 13 repetitions with 60% of 1RM and rest between active sets with an intensity of 20% of 1RM and 15 repetitions. At the same time, they consumed 1800 mg of Algomed algae daily. Before and after the intervention, fasting blood was taken from all the subjects. PAI-1 inflammatory index was evaluated by ELISA method. Data were analyzed using analysis of covariance. RESULTS: The results showed that 12 weeks of intermittent resistance training with Algomed supplementation, in addition to improving body composition, caused a significant decrease in PAI-1 (p = 0.0001) in obese men. CONCLUSION: Algomed supplement along with intermittent resistance training can lead to improvement of inflammatory conditions and better liver function and reduction of fat percentage in obese men. It seems that the use of this supplement and practice can be used as a type of treatment to improve liver function.
