Eighty-one volunteers were entered into a study to compare acupuncture and group therapy as methods of smoking withdrawal. Group A received acupuncture at a point effective for smoking withdrawal, group B at an ineffective point, and group C received group therapy. Six months after the completion of treatment 18% of patients in group A, 15% of patients in group B and 11% of patients in group C had given up smoking completely.
