The muscle stretching is the process of increasing the length of the muscle. The static stretch is the stretching of a muscle until the most distant point, without any help of external force, for a certain period of time. The Isostretching is a global postural exercise which aim of flexibilized the rigid parts of the body and to fortify the weakness one. The aim of this research was compare the strech of the hamstrings for the active method and the Isostretching method. The research was achieved in the Physical Therapy Center of Tuiuti University, with 30 sedentaries women in the age of 20 the 27 years, without any injuries in the hamstrings, only presenting shortening muscle. All of them were submitted to an initial and final evaluation through shortening tests. Theses 30 women were divided in three groups of ten people each one. The group A did 15 sessions of muscular stretching for the static method, group B 15 sessions of stretching for the Isostretching method and C didn't do any stretching exercise. Two diferent types of exercises for each group had been carried through, being made bilaterally, with three repetitions with of twenty seconds. Both groups A and B have profit in the stretching, however the results indicated that had a bigger increase of the amplitude of movement in the group submitted to the Isostretching method.
