A controlled comparison was undertaken of two different training programmes for treatment of intermittent claudication. The walking distance improved significantly following intensive hospital training only (p < 0.05) but no significant difference could be demonstrated between the groups. The less intense training form involved in home training is therefore acceptable for ordinary use.
