1 mgm salbutamol given by a pressurised inhaler using a 'cup-mask' extension device, proved effective in the management of acute asthma in children. There was a mean increase of 42% in peak expiratory flow rate (PEFR) from the baseline, compared with 58% in patients receiving 2.5 to 5.0 mgm by nebuliser.
