The authors have treated in a double blind study, 9 patients suffering from medial tibial syndrome. Four patients were treated with high frequency, low intensity, pulsed microwaves, 4 hours /day during 4 weeks. The other five patients receiving the same programme of electrotherapy, but the antenna was disconnected, thus carrying out a placebo treatment. The clinical evolution and the scintigraphy performed during the vascular phase were identical for the 2 groups. The late osseous scintigrapy however revealed a significant reduction of the hyperfixation in the group treated with the microwaves.
