Because of pulmonary embolism and post-phlebitic syndrome, the deep venous thrombosis (DVT) must be considered as a redoubtable affection. The author summarizes the methods actually used for DVT prevention and gives the results of a recent study, in Geneva, which compares the different types of prophylaxis.
