Patients with a pronounced posttraumatic atrophy of the m. quadriceps femoris underwent different physico-medical reactivating therapies in two randomized test groups. In group A the myofeedback training was carried out, and in group B the conducted exercise therapy with the typical combination of different types of exercises accommodated to the development of regeneration was performed. Comparing both sides and groups the development of both the maximum potentials of innervation on the m. quadriceps femoris and the strength of extension and differences of the thigh circumference were controlled and statistically analysed during a 6 weeks course of treatment. The results show pronounced starting deficits of these motor parameters of strength compared to the healthy extremity, and in group B a superior progression of reactivation compared to group A. Group A presents a similar efficiency exclusively during the first two weeks of treatment; a period, in which the innervating stimulation and the improvement of the recruitment of innervation are obviously in the foreground. In addition to that the conducted exercise therapy with its combined types of exercises accommodated to performance is significantly superior to the myofeedback training only. Solely from that conclusions for specific criteria of indication can be drawn regarding to the application of the myofeedback training.
