90 patients with inflammatory joint diseases and involvement of the shoulder were randomly divided in the following groups of treatment (n = 30 each); ultrasound (10 sessions in 2 weeks); cryotherapy (5 daily sessions); intraarticular injection of 40mg triamcinolonacetonid-crystals once. The outcome of treatment was assessed with analogue scales for pain, several goniometer and functional measure and the patients judgement of the effect. Follow-ups 1, 2, 3 and 12 weeks after the start of trial showed for all three groups of efficacy parameters and in each of the treatment regimens in more than the half of patients an improvement. Statistically significant results were seen only for the criterion of pain in the group with local injections at the last follow-up.
