Vergelijkend onderzoek in vitro van de mucoviscositeit van het sputum voor en na toediening van een mucolyticum (Mistabron) of een physiologische zoutoplossing al dan niet in combinatie me physiotherapie (vitratie-therapie) (Comparative investigation on sputum viscosity before and after administration of mistabron or physiological saline solution with and without physiotherapy (vibration-therapy)) [Dutch]

A comparative clinical in-patient trial was performed on sputum liquefying activity of mecapto-ethane-sulfonic acid sodium salt (Mistabron) in two concentrations versus physiological saline solution with and without physiotherapy. The concentration of the Mistabron solution appeared to have no influence on the mucolytic activity; the saline solution was always inferior to the good activity of Mistabron. The most striking results of the investigation is the absence of any influence of the applied physiotherapy on sputum liquefaction.
