INTRODUCTION: Patellofemoral pain syndrome is a knee condition characterized by anterior or retro patellar pain. This pathology is observed in young subjects from 11/12 years and in adult up to 35/40 years old. This review explored the possible specifi city of rehabilitation care in adolescent. METHODS: Publications covering the treatment in subjects from 10 to 19 years of age with patellofemoral pain syndrome have been included. Cochrane library, PEDro, PubMed and Science Direct were searched. Studies evaluation was made with CONSORT and STROBE guidelines, PEDro scale and the Cochrane Risk of Bias tool. RESULTS: Six articles were retained. Quality of the publications was heterogeneous: PEDro score ranging from 4 to 8, risk of bias from moderate to high and methodological score from 55 to 88%. DISCUSSION AND CONCLUSION: There are no certainties about a specificity in adolescents. Exercise is superior to education alone in young subjects. Patient's compliance and preexisting duress applied to the knee have to be taken in consideration in rehabilitation. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE: 1.
