The author performed a double-blind, placebo-controlled study, by applying ultrasonic or placebo underwater treatment to both hands of 50 rheumatoid arthritis patients. A number of clinical parameters improved significantly in the treated group compared with the placebo group, although improvement was observed in several cases of the placebo group as well. No significant change was found in the laboratory parameters.
