Consumer Summary: PERSPECTIVES: The methods used for measuring muscle strength have been developed over the past three decades. The manual resistance tests showed low accuracy and low reproducibility and have been replaced by more sophisticated methods using computer-assisted dynamometers. However, the search for more functional methods for strength evaluation is ongoing. There is a need for the development and validation of more sensitive functional outcome methods, such as the various types of jumping.
