| Consumer Summary: | WHAT DOES THIS RESEARCH ADD TO EXISTING KNOWLEDGE IN GERONTOLOGY: A MeSH meta-analysis technique was used to find the best management strategy for acupuncture-related therapies in the hypertensive population. WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS OF THIS NEW KNOWLEDGE FOR NURSING CARE FOR AND WITH OLDER ADULTS: This study provides important information for clinicians in the management of hypertension using acupuncturerelated therapies. The results suggest that moxibustion and auricular point sticking combined with medication therapy were found to be most effective in terms of antihypertensive effective rate and hypertension symptom improvement, while acupuncture combined with moxibustion combined with medication therapy had the best effect in reducing systolic and diastolic blood pressure. HOW COULD THE FINDINGS BE USED TO INFLUENCE PRACTICE, EDUCATION, RESEARCH, AND POLICY: Clinicians can potentially incorporate acupuncturerelated therapies into their hypertension management protocols. The study also highlights the need for future research to investigate specific acupuncture-related therapies to identify the most effective interventions for improving patient outcomes. |
