Consumer Summary: | KEY SUMMARY POINTS: WHY CARRY OUT THIS STUDY: The study was carried out to address the challenge of managing tension-type headache (TTH), which is common but difficult to treat effectively with conventional treatments. It aimed to examine six complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) interventions through network meta- analysis to identify effective TTH management strategies. WHAT WAS LEARNED FROM THE STUDY: From the study, we learned that PT may be more effective than other CAM interventions in reducing the intensity of headaches. Additionally, traditional Chinese medicine combined with acupuncture and manual therapy (TCM_AT_MT) appears to be particularly effective in reducing the frequency of headaches. These findings suggest that incorporating CAM interventions into treatment protocols for TTH could be beneficial. However, the results also highlight the need for further more rigorous studies to confirm these preliminary outcomes. |
