Title: The effect of exercise training on blood lipids: a systematic review and meta-analysis [with consumer summary]
Source: Sports Medicine 2025 Dec;55(1):67-78
Method: systematic review
Method Score: This is a systematic review. Systematic reviews are not rated.
Consumer Summary: KEY POINTS: This work has clarified which lipid outcomes respond to exercise training and to the extent that the modest effects observed may moderate dyslipidemia medication for primary disease prevention. This work demonstrates combined aerobic and resistance exercise is optimal for lipid management, but variations to exercise prescriptions are required to manage different types of dyslipidemia. The Trial Sequence Analysis revealed this to be the first work with sufficient data to declare statistical futility for all five lipid outcomes.
